Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: A user edited with pictures of modified cars which misleading the info. I think we should put the pictires of cars in stock condition or at least nearly stock that match with information text. Celica21gtfour (talk) 00:58, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Alxeedotalk 01:09, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High level of misinformation being added to her page, evident from the fact that the subject of the article itself has been banned from WP for vandalism, so instead she asks her supporters to add bogus information onto her page such as the fact that she's leftist/centrist and that she enjoys gelato. A majority of these edits are performed by IP addresses. ~eticangaaa (talk) 03:31, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism; a lot of misinformation being added to the page as well. Since the film is still in theaters, the vandalism is likely to continue. (59.102.7.153 (talk) 04:04, 18 April 2025 (UTC))[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This should be semi-ed for a couple of months. The most recent IPs are now rangeblocked; see the deleted edits by the last one. Longterm socking, no doubt. Drmies (talk) 04:09, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – This article is prone to BLP violation. Some IP users and registered editors who are not familiar with BLP keep adding unreliable sources for her ethnicity/background. They add Kurdish while Moghbeli herself and her family never claimed such background. Actually, in all sources she just identifies as Iranian/Persian and American. This has been discussed on the talk page but some users still violate BLP like this.[1][2]. Mann Mann (talk) 04:12, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – A few days semi-protection is hopefully enough to let the IP-hopper read the argumentation that I give for the removal of its unsourced edits. IP is now cranky and moving towards PAs. The Banner talk 11:18, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Taffer😊💬(she/they) 13:59, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Both a registered user and several IP addresses keep removing cited information from this article. The issue revolves around a section where Centrica announced their support for the project in the early days. Through edit summaries, and on the registered users' talk page (Jamessutcliffe), I have asked they they do not remove the information, but update the article to state that Centrica supported it at the start, but now do not because of whatever the reason is that they have changed their minds. At least three other users (Bored kittycat, TheM1sty, and im really bad at this) besides myself, all agree the information should be retained and amended in the prose to reflect the now lack of support.

Thanks for considering this. Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 14:31, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-Protection: That IP sockpuppet is at it again, adding unsourced material. That page will need protection from them. BattleshipMan (talk) 15:10, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: Removal of PC. The page is indef, so it is redundant. (CC) Tbhotch 17:53, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I would like to request that the term "Shudra varna" be removed from the article in reference to the Kushwaha community. This label is not universally accepted and lacks sufficient, reliable, and neutral citations from academic or government sources. Including such a classification without proper verification can misrepresent the community and promote caste-based bias.

If there is strong, verifiable evidence that supports this classification from peer-reviewed or official documents, please provide it. Otherwise, the term should be removed to maintain neutrality and avoid any caste-based suppression on Wikipedia.

I have already added this concern to the talk page, but received no response so far. Thank you. Bhaskar sunsari (talk) 14:24, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – You've already made a request at Talk:Kushwaha. That's where the matter will be decided. Favonian (talk) 14:28, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But there is no reply yet 🥲 Bhaskar sunsari (talk) 16:14, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter. If the talk page can be edited by the requestor, then this place is the wrong venue and it needs to be taken to the talk page. We're not going to short-circuit a discussion because the requestor is impatient. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 16:49, 18 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
